About

Dr. Pimkwan Jaru-ampornpan is an American-board certified ophthalmologist who specializes in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery. She graduated with an academic distinction from Harvard College and began her medical training at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She then completed a residency in ophthalmology at University of Wisconsin, and a sub-specialized 2-year fellowship in Orbital Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Kellogg Eye Center, University of Michigan, which ranks among the top-ten best hospitals for ophthalmological care in the US. This fellowship was accredited by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) and is limited to fewer than 30 surgeons domestically and internationally per year. Her fellowship preceptor is a world-renowned oculofacial plastic surgeon, Dr. Raymond Douglas, and Dr. Pimkwan was selected among a highly competitive pool of eye surgeon candidates for this prestigious position.

After spending 15 years receiving world-class education and training in the US, she returned to her homeland and is currently the chief of oculoplastic service at the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University. She is among very few American-board-certified ophthalmologists who are actively practicing in Thailand. Moreover, she is also the only Fellow member (a member with full-voting privileges) of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS)/The Oculofacial Society who is actively practicing in Thailand. Dr. Pimkwan treats patients with eyelid, orbital and lacrimal problems from all over Thailand and its neighboring countries. As a clinical assistant professor, she does clinical research in ophthalmology with a focus on eyelid, orbital and lacrimal disorders. Additionally, she also holds a position as a director of Siriraj Ocular Prosthetic Center.
