Pimkwan Jaru-ampornpan, MD

Dr. Pimkwan Jaru-ampornpan is an American board-certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty expertise in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery. She graduated with academic distinction from Harvard College and earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She subsequently completed her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison

Dr. Pimkwan pursued further subspecialty training through a highly competitive two-year fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Kellogg Eye Center, University of Michigan—one of the top-ranked ophthalmology institutions in the United States. This prestigious fellowship is accredited by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) and accepts fewer than 30 fellows worldwide each year. During her training, she was mentored by Dr. Raymond Douglas, an internationally recognized expert in the field.

After 15 years of education and clinical training in the United States, Dr. Pimkwan returned to Thailand to contribute her expertise to the academic and clinical community. She currently serves as the Chief of the Oculoplastic Division at the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University. She is among a select group of American board-certified ophthalmologists practicing in Thailand, and notably, the only ASOPRS Fellow member (with full voting privileges) actively practicing in the country.

Dr. Pimkwan specializes in the diagnosis and surgical management of conditions involving the eyelids, orbit, and lacrimal system. Her patients travel from across Thailand and neighboring countries for consultation and care. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she holds the academic rank of Assistant Professor and leads research in eyelid, orbital, and lacrimal diseases. She also serves as Director of the Siriraj Ocular Prosthetic Center.
